The Depot
Track and trail-side gourmet coffee, regular cups of joe, soda pop,
bottled juices, bakery goods, a retro '60s ambiance and (somtimes) live
entertainment in Hopkins - Excelsior Blvd., just east of the Hwy 169
bridge.
This 101-year old passenger train depot has been refashioned into an
innovative, and celebrated teen center under the umbrella of the Hopkins
School District. The Depot, which is operated by students, has also
become a popular launching pad for freeway commutors and the hub for
the three branches of the SW Regional Trail and the Hutchinson Spur
Trail. The Depot loves trail people: they've got a large thermos tank
of free, cold drinking water waitin' for us in the sitting area and
picnic tables on the patio.
