A number of established and recognized environmental, recreational, scenic and historic assets and community services depend on keeping the Birch Island Woods free of development. Benign neglect has enabled the area's wooded hills and wetlands to survive as a quiet, natural sanctuary that has long been used and valued by Minnetonka and Eden Prairie families, runners, bird watchers, skiers and visitors from the Eden Wood Center.
