A
number of historic sites benefit from the Birch Island Woods which anchors
the rural and natural settings that characterized Native American and
late 19th Century life. The garden farms along Birch Island Road are Eden
Prairie Heritage sites dating back to Eden Prairie's century old Czech
community including the Picha family which continues to harvest vegetables,
raspberries, and nursery plants. One of their farmsteads is being nominated
for designation on the National Register of Historic Places and may be
turned in to a living history farm which would market directly to customers
and be open to children from local schools and the Eden Wood Center.
