Birch Island Woods Fund
Contributions to the Birch Island Woods fund are dedicated to stewardship,
education, conservation and habitat restoration projects occurring in
or focusing on the Birch Island Woods, Birch Island Lake and Birch Island
Park area.
Donations are tax deductible and will be receipted.
Friends of Birch Island Woods, Inc. is a 501(c)(03) non-profit, charitable
organization.
Note: The Birch Island Woods Expansion Fund has been retired and replaced
by The Birch Island Woods Fund. The BIW Expansion Fund was dedicated
to helping the City of Eden Prairie to acquire a 4-acre, unprotected
section of the woods so that it could become part of the conservation
area. A majority of voters in the November 2005 Eden Prairie Parks Referendum
voted to authorize the City to sell bonds to purchase open space. During
2006, the Eden Prairie City Council authorized the use of referendum
moneys to acquire the 4-acre parcel. Contributions that had been earmarked
for the BIW Expansion Fund will be re-directed by the FBIW Board of Directors
to stewardship, education, conservation and habitat restoration programs
centered on the woods.
